Reaching 10k Subscribers on YouTube!
I want to start this blog off by saying THANK YOU!
THANK YOU (Pointing my index finger at YOU)!
I hope that you are one of the many people out there that has taken the opportunity to follow along with our family and come back each and every day to enjoy your time with us. Each and every subscriber we have gained over our time on YouTube has helped us achieve this!
I always find it funny when people look at numbers and decide whether or not the person or the channel is good or not. The amount of subscribers does not always equate to a channels ability to pass on knowledge or to entertain. From the moment I started vlogging until this very day, I have constantly looked for ways to improve the quality and the delivery of our content. I have tried many methods to grow our viewership and I can tell you for a fact there is NO easy way to do it unless you are a family member or close friend of an already established content creator. Everyone else that has made it to the top or become noteworthy in YouTube has worked their butt off!
The path we have taken to reach this milestone for our channel has been the long path but every minute has been worth it and made it even more satisfying to achieve it. As you may know by now, we reached 10,000 subscribers yesterday, Thursday January 15th 2016. I want to have a memory of this achievement forever, so I decided to jot down my thoughts here in a blog post and share them with whomever would like to experience from my perspective.
The day started at about 5:30 a.m., as it does everyday during the work week (Yes, I still work a FT job and commute to the office just about everyday). I laid in bed for a few moments after the alarm went off and checked all of my social media items (Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, FaceBook and Email) followed by checking my statistics at SocialBlade and then viewing my real time stats. I usually can do all of this within the first 10 minutes of waking up and then I’m out the door within the next 15 minutes of my workday mornings. I was super-psyched to see that I was a mere 10 subscribers away from reaching my 2015 goal of 10k subscribers.
As the day progressed and I got more and more anxious for the forthcoming achievement, I was feeling the stress of the ups and downs of being a YouTube creator. I would gain 3 subscribers only to lose 4 subscribers. The roller coaster was driving me insane.
After lunch and seeing our number at 9,993 for over an hour, I decided to relieve myself from stress and disconnect from all of my social media sites until later in the evening. I drove home listening to the radio, played basketball with my boys and then went to the batting cages with the boys to get some batting practice in. When I got home around 7:30 p.m., I figured it was time to turn the phone back on and began checking in with everything including the 10 or 15 text messages from friends. Yes I am still here!
I was astounded… WE not only broke through the 10k barrier while I was away, but we smashed that number into smithereens. We were sitting at 10,021 when I checked. HOLY COW, the excitement was unbelievable. I ran through the house shouting “we did it” and the boys chimed in with their own excitement including the Whip/NaeNae AND there was a ton of confetti. We truly are blessed and achieving this goal was very satisfying after everything we have gone through.
Before we head off onto our next destination (20k), we have an exciting Dare to complete for reaching 10,000 subscribers. The polls officially closed once I knew we surpassed 10k subscribers. The votes were close but in the end, Amy’s option rose to the top. We look forward to the up coming dare and if you haven’t already done so, feel free to subscribe and become a member of our happy little story!
